How Much Do Hair Extensions Cost in the UK? 2026 Price Guide

on

How much do hair extensions cost in the UK? The answer depends on the extension method, length, colour, quantity and hair range you choose. Clip-ins are generally the most affordable option because they require no professional fitting, while nano tips, tape-ins and wefts involve both the cost of the hair and, in most cases, a separate salon fitting charge.

Hair-extension pricing can be difficult to compare because one product may be available in several lengths, colour groups and volume options. A dark 18-inch shade may therefore have a different price from a blonde, highlighted or silver shade in the same range.

To make comparison easier, the live pricing table below pulls current prices directly from our Shopify product listings. It shows the lowest available price for each extension range and colour group, so the information updates automatically when product prices change.

What affects the cost of hair extensions?

The total cost of hair extensions is influenced by several factors:

  • Extension method: clip-in, nano tip, tape-in and weft extensions are supplied and applied differently.
  • Length: longer extensions require more human hair and normally cost more.
  • Colour: blonde, mixed, highlighted, balayage, grey and silver shades may cost more than natural dark shades.
  • Volume and quantity: a 6-piece clip-in set costs less than a 10-piece, extra-volume or double-set option.
  • Hair range and quality: premium double-drawn and specialist weft ranges may have a higher starting price.
  • Professional fitting: permanent and semi-permanent methods normally require a separate salon fitting fee.

Why does the price change by colour?

Across many human hair-extension ranges, lighter and mixed shades can cost more than natural dark colours. Blonde, platinum, highlighted and mixed-tone hair may require additional lightening, toning and colour processing while maintaining the softness and condition of the hair.

Colour availability also differs between ranges. Some products may be offered in a large selection of numbered and mixed shades, while specialist products may only be available in one or two colours. For example, a particular Brazilian weft option may be available in Natural Black only.

In the live table below, prices are organised into the following broad colour groups:

  • Dark: black and natural-black shades
  • Brunette: brown and medium-to-dark natural shades
  • Blonde: warm, neutral, light and platinum blonde shades
  • Mixed / Balayage: highlighted, rooted, two-tone and blended shades
  • Red / Grey: auburn, copper, silver and grey shades

A dash in the table means that the selected product does not currently have an available variant assigned to that colour group.

Hair cost vs fitting cost: what is the difference?

The live prices shown below are for the hair extensions themselves. They do not include professional fitting unless this is clearly stated on the product or service page.

A stylist’s fitting fee will normally depend on:

  • The extension method being applied
  • The number of strands, tapes or weft rows required
  • Whether you are having a partial, half-head or full-head fitting
  • The time required for colour matching, preparation and blending
  • The stylist’s experience and salon location

Nano-tip applications generally take longer than fitting a small number of tape sections or preparing removable clip-ins. Weft fitting costs can also vary according to the number of rows and the fitting technique used.

Which type of hair extension is cheapest?

Clip-in hair extensions are generally the cheapest overall option because you apply and remove them yourself. There is no professional fitting fee, no bond-removal appointment and no regular salon refit.

Clip-ins are available in different set sizes, so the price rises as you move from a smaller 6-piece set to 10-piece, extra-volume and double-set options.

Among professionally fitted methods, the lowest-priced option depends on the selected length, shade, quantity and current product pricing. Nano tips may have a lower starting product price in some ranges, while tape-ins or particular wefts may be more economical for another client depending on how much hair is required.

The best method should therefore be chosen according to your natural hair, lifestyle and desired result—not price alone. Read our nano tip vs tape-in comparison for more guidance.

Are cheaper hair extensions worth buying?

A lower price does not automatically mean poor quality, particularly when a product is discounted or supplied in a shorter length. However, unusually cheap products described as human hair should be checked carefully.

Lower-quality extensions may contain synthetic fibres, heavily processed hair or strands with cuticles running in different directions. This can contribute to tangling, matting, dryness and a shorter usable lifespan.

When comparing prices, check:

  • Whether the product is made from 100% human hair
  • The weight or number of pieces supplied
  • The available lengths and colour options
  • Whether the hair is Remy or double drawn
  • Whether fitting, removal or maintenance is included
  • The recommended aftercare and expected lifespan

How to use the live price comparison

The table below compares our current Echo hair-extension products by method and broad colour group. Each figure is calculated from the available Shopify variants assigned to that group.

Where a product has several lengths, textures or shades at different prices, the table displays the lowest current price and may show “From”. Select the product to view every available option and its exact price.

Prices are pulled directly from our current product listings and may change during promotions or when product options are updated. Professional fitting is charged separately. Always check the individual product page before ordering.
