Photo matching is guidance rather than a guarantee of an exact colour match.

Hair extension colour matching using a natural daylight photo

How it works

Get your hair extension colour recommendation in three simple steps

Follow the guidance below so we can compare your natural hair with the shades available across our hair extension ranges.

01

Take clear photos

Photograph your hair in natural daylight, with your hair down and visible from the mid-lengths to the ends.

02

Send them on WhatsApp

Send two or three photographs, or a short video, using the colour-match button on this page.

03

Receive a shade recommendation

We will review the visible tones and suggest the closest available shade or blended colour options to consider.

Photo checklist

How to take the best photo for hair extension colour matching

Good lighting and an unobstructed view of your hair help us identify depth, undertone, highlights and blended sections more accurately.

Best photos to send

  • Natural daylight near a window or outdoors in open shade
  • Hair worn down, dry and free from heavy filters or editing
  • One photo from the back and one from the side
  • Mid-lengths and ends clearly visible
  • A short video showing how the colour changes as the hair moves
×

Please avoid

  • Warm indoor bulbs, salon spotlights or coloured lighting
  • Direct bright sunlight that creates glare
  • Beauty filters, colour filters or screenshots
  • Hair tied up, wet or heavily covered with styling products
  • Photos showing only the roots

What we look for

How we compare your natural hair colour

Hair colour is rarely one flat tone. We assess the visible depth and undertones through your mid-lengths and ends, where hair extensions need to blend.

Colour depth

Black, dark brunette, medium brunette, light brunette, dark blonde, blonde or very light blonde.

Undertone

Warm, neutral, cool, golden, ash, copper or red undertones.

Dimension

Highlights, balayage, root shadows, mixed shades and multi-tonal colour.

Extension suitability

Which available shade and hair extension range may provide the closest visual blend.

Shade and range

The same shade may appear slightly different across hair ranges

Texture, density, lighting and the finish of each hair range can affect how a colour appears. We may recommend more than one shade or range when your hair is highlighted, balayaged or multi-tonal.

Important colour-matching information

Photo colour matching is guidance based on the images or video you provide. Screens, lighting, camera processing, previous colouring and the condition of natural hair can change how a shade appears. A photographic recommendation cannot guarantee an exact match. For complex, highly blended or corrective colour, we recommend consulting a qualified hair extension professional before ordering or fitting.

Frequently asked questions

Hair extension photo colour-match FAQs

How many photos should I send for a colour match?

Send two or three clear photographs, ideally including one from the back and one from the side. A short daylight video can also help us see highlights, undertones and movement.

Should I match extensions to my roots or ends?

Hair extensions should normally blend with the mid-lengths and ends rather than only matching the root colour. This is why your photographs should clearly show the lower lengths of your hair.

Can you colour match highlighted or balayage hair?

Yes. For highlighted, balayage or multi-tonal hair, we may suggest a blended shade or a combination of shades. Send several angles in consistent natural daylight so the different tones are visible.

Is a photo colour match guaranteed to be exact?

No. Photo colour matching is guidance because cameras, screens, lighting and hair condition can affect colour appearance. For complex colour, we recommend professional in-person matching before fitting.

Which hair extension products can you help colour match?

We can help you compare shades across our clip-in, nano tip, tape-in and weft hair extensions, subject to the colours currently available in each range and length.
